Have not been able to find a part# for the tie rods on the later Alpines. Should be a rt & lt part#. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Seems a little early to need replacements for your coach. Unfortunately I don't know what front axle you have other than it is not the Rockwell one I have. Maybe you could identify what you need from this list of tie rod ends.

It seems there is endless information and multiple part #'s for the drag link ends on the earlier and later design Alpines and nothing on the center link ends. If there is play in the steering and your wearing the drag link ends why would you not be wearing the tie rod ends on the center link at the same time?

If you look at the steering geometry, the steering wheel connects through the steering box to the drag link and then to the left front wheel axle. The tie rod is not involved. The tie rod connects movement of the left front wheel to the right front wheel, so that they turn together. Usually play in the steering will be in the steering box or drag link, but could be a worn king pin (but that would be a whole new story). You could check for play in the tie rod ends by lifting the right front wheel (leave the left on the ground) and see if there is any movement, but with the weight and size of these wheels I am not sure how easy that is to do. A car is a lot easier.

I'm with Mike & Al on this. Play in steering could be in the steering box, drag link ends, king pin pivot assembly, or the tie rod ends. Ford pickups used to have a combo drag-link/tie-rod that ran left-right; wear in the ball joints on it & the truck had a mind of its own about where to steer.
If you can grab the tie rod & wiggle it at all, that amount of wear will translate to ambiguous link between left & right wheel direction.
I think Dave Guhse got new tie rod ends on his 06 after the St. George rally, I just sent him an email to check the receipt for part#.

On our APEX 07, the part numbers for the drag link ends are as follows:
1698846, the tech said both are right hand thread, and are 16 TPI threads. They had to be ordered from Meritor, through Freightliner (Parent) they would not sell to any other private person. I did not try to get them through Napa, or any other place, as they are not that expensive. I don't have the TIE ROD part Numbers, but there is a RH and LH one as I understand it.

I have a 2006 Alpine Limited 40FDQS and just had the drag link ends replaced. In contacting Meritor I was given a new # E-10163 replacing the old part #1698846. Both ends on mine are right threads that are metric I believe 30 mm.
I was able to have Six Robblees' Yakima WA order them from Meritor. They have been installed without a problem.
