Transmission Coolant Temperature Gauge

Driving from Quartzsite Rally to Phoenix I noticed that the dash Transmission Coolant Temperature Gauge was not registering.

I checked the connections on the transmission and they appear to be tight. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Vic- the Actia gauges read the J1939 bus data which (I believe) includes the trans temp. There are more than one electrical connectors at the trans, so I assume you did an all-around there and checked all (5 IIRC). You can have the J1939 bus read by a tech who has the software (a Cummins shop will, but any self respecting truck shop will also) to see if it is reported correctly to the bus. If yes, it is probably the gauge, or maybe wiring between the trans & annunciator (in your case annunciator is the package of junk behind the idiot light clusters) or between annunciator & Actia gauge (FYI the annunciator is also made by Actia). You could also call Actia (google) and see if they have tech support to verify the above or another diagnostic to determine if it is the gauge.

BTW, you could modify your signature to include your coach model year using the UserCP feature at above left.

Vic-on our 06 coach the buzzers signaled by the the annunciator that EMike is referring to are part of the speedometer. When all our buzzers went out we had to replace the speedometer. Actia returned a new speedometer and guages to us as part of the speedometer replacement.

I would recommend you call Patrick at Actia, phone 574-266-2649, and talk to him about the gauge if you are sure all the wires are connected. He is very helpful on gauge issues, and he turned around my speedometer within a week of shipping to them from Tacoma, WA. If you need to send the gauge, Actia will send you a form to send to them with the gauge.
