Update on HWH Issue
For some time, we have had an intermittent problem with our slides and Smart Beds in our 2006 Apex. We could not engage them from either the control panel on the dash monitor or the TV. Sometimes they would quit after initial engagement and sometimes after they were part way through the function. Usually an off and on of the ignition key fixed the problem and they might work for days, weeks, or months.
Well finally while on a trip to Ohio, the problem became more than intermittent. We had to resort to the manual running of the pump(s) and outside switches and then they may or may not start working again.
We made an appointment at Stuart's HWH Service in Elkhart and traveled there. They took a look at the HWH compartment and called the factory in Moscow, IA. The factory instructed them to not tackle the problem and requested that we travel to Iowa so they could get their engineer involved. Prior to this, after talking to Engineer Mike and Renipladlo, I had called Silverleaf to see if it could be a problem with it. The initial feeling at Silverleaf was that it wasn't since we could hear a click in the HWH compartment when it failed.
We traveled to HWH in Iowa and they determined that a solenoid or solenoids were probably chattering ever so slightly (we couldn't hear it) which upset the HWH computer and shut everything down. So they replaced three solenoids or relays in the HWH control box. In diagnosing the situation, Dale from Silverleaf thought it was some type of computer limit switch in the HWH system because the Smart Beds are totally separate from the Silverleaf system and yet they were impacted the same as the slides and the jacks.
With an intermittent problem, one never knows if it is really fixed or not but so far so good. I promised to let you guys know what we found out. I hope the above makes some sort of sense. By the way, thanks for your assistance in helping determine who to contact first. Ya gotta love those slide, Smart Bed, and jack problems (NOT)!!

Did they give you the old parts? I'm wondering if they replaced small rectangular black/brown relays on the motherboard? And did they only work on the control box in the HWH compartment, or did they check out the one amid-ships as well?

Yes, they gave us the old parts and there were three round solenoids (similar in shape but smaller than the infamous Trombettas). That stuff all looks alike to me. Chuck said they look like solenoids you might find on car starters. Two of them were slightly smaller than the third one. They said there was no good way to tell which one might be causing the problem so they replaced all of them. They were in the HWH control unit area on the front passenger side. They had to remove some things to get to them as they were behind a shelf and not easily accessed. They never said they replaced anything else and we initially requested all old parts. I have the part numbers on the bill which is in the motorhome. I will post the numbers later. Hope this helps.

I don't know if they checked out the ones mid-ship or not. I do know they did a pretty thorough check on the entire system as it failed several times before they made the repair. After it was repaired we stayed until the next morning and they took us back into the shop and together we ran everything to see if there were any failures. So far so good.

Chuck & Marca, after talking to you on the phone, I had the same issues with some of my slides. I determined that the batteries on my Silverleaf Remote control were weak. I changed them out with new batteries, and the issue went away. I know I have to aim the remote at the TV as the little sensors don't seem to carry the signal well enough. I have put in the bed/vanity slide standing as far away as the middle pocket door area, and it works if I aim it at the TV, key in ACC position. FWIW, I never level using the TV, the main dashboard control panel for me works better from a visual/tweak standpoint.
If you have my e-mail, please provide good driving directions to the Iowa location, I have a serious Hydraulic leak in my HWH bay, and cannot seem to find where it's coming from, it's time to let the experts tackle this one. If you don't have my e-mail, please send me a PM with yours and we can correspond after I have it. This winter has been a bugger for travel, and Iowa is way farther North than I want to go, but this leak is driving me nuts.

Hi Renipladlo,
I will be sending you an e-mail with the information you requested. I had it all keyed in here but somehow lost it so will go the e-mail route as I don't know where IRV2 might store drafts if they have such a thing.
