Vansco Problem

Help, I am stranded in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The power distribution module and multiplex module in front of coach is powered. The multiplex module in the battery compartment is dark. The engine started this morning, ran for 5 minutes and shut down with an error on the odometer of engine comm err and transmission comm err. Any suggestions. I am waiting for a call back from Parker Vansco tech person.
Thanks, Tom

There is some Alpine-Vansco info here and here.

It is easy to see if the rear unit is powered- there is a plug giving 12V to it w/~#10 wire. Untwist that plug & check for 12V. If there is no 12V, you need to start tracing from there. You may have a fuse or circuit breaker blown/tripping in the ignition circuits. There is a "mega" fuse, 250A on the back wall of batt compartment, and another in the rear-most compartment above the muffler; you can check continuity across the studs for those.

There is a twisted pair that sends "network" signals between front & rear VMMs so that an input on the front can translate to an output on the rear or vice versa. However, with your limited description of the non-Vansco failures, I'm guessing it is in general coach/engine wiring, not a Vansco failure per se.
Let us know what else you find.

I found my problem. Pin #26 on input side of rear multiplex unit is the 12v power and my wire was only delivering 2+ volts when plugged in. Power drain somewhere. I ran a separate 12v line to this pin and unit works fine. I will try to find problem at a later date.

Cookiejar,
Other than the Vansco problem, how do you like the UP? Am looking to take a trip up the LP to UP then back down to Door County WI, from there may go on down to Manatowoc WI and take ferry back over to Ludington MI. Do not see much in way of RV parks in UP or fuel stops so am interested in what you found on your trip.
If you make your way to Munising check out Camel Riders restaurant or in Iron Mountain check out the Fontana's restaurant.

BTF,
We really like the U.P. of Michigan. Many fuel stops and many RV parks, both public state parks and private RV parks. There are many wonderful natural scenery areas, lakes, and water falls to visit. Saulte Ste. Marie has a wonderful RV park on the St. Mary's river where you can park 20' from the river to watch 1000' freighters pass by. Let us know if you want more information. We might even be able to meet you in the U.P.
