VMSPC cable plug

I'm planning to order a VMSPC cable so that I can monitor fuel milage and engine data. Can anyone tell me if I have the 6 pin or the 9 pin diagnostic plug in my 01? I could remove the panel under the dash and look, but getting that thing back in the exact right spot is like landing the space shuttle. I'd rather just do it once when I install the cable.

I would imagine that all 01 Alpine Cummins 350's probly have the same diagnostic plug.....

Not sure on the plug you have, sorry. The panel with the vecro strips can be easy if you use a credit card as a tool to seperate the velcro. To put it back in the correct location, place a piece of heavy paper over the velcro on the panel side and tape it in a few places on the outside of the panel. Position the panel and withdraw the paper when you get it where you want it.
If you are buying the silverleaf you are going to like it!

Jeff ours is a 6-pin. The guy at Silver Leaf said Alpines are all 6-pin.

My 2001 Alpine with 350 HP engine had 6 pin data ports. By the way there are only four wires used. If you don't want to pull the dash area, just go back to the service bay and look at your data port located at that location. As I'm sure you know, you can download the VMSPC program from the internet to you lap top, but you will need to purchase the Control Box and the Wire Cable from it to the the data port from Silverleaf. I have the control box to data port cable I took off my 2001, but you would still need the Silverleaf control box. PM if interested.

Don't know who you talked to at Silverleaf, but your incorrect about all Alpines having 6 pin data ports. When I got my 2004 I removed the Silverleaf Control Box and wire to data port from the 2001. When I went to reinstall my Silverleaf in the 2004 coach it had a 9 pin data port. I called Silverleaf and ordered a new cable for the 9 pin data port.

This is one toy I can't give up. WRV dash gauges suck!

I wonder if the change to Vansco caused the change to 9-pin. Even though the Tech said he was familiar with Alpines, I doubt he'd know every incarnation. He did hedge that almost all installations are 6-pin. Maybe it was just WAG.

BTW, I bought mine from rvupgradestore for less than Silver Leaf direct (as advised by Silver-Leaf Tim on this forum). It now lists for $340.55. I think that's $54.45 off.
