For my 2003...do I need a 6 pin, or a 9 pin?

Thanks in advance...I am going to take the plunge...

My 07 has a port in the battery compartment and another behind the front panel on the right. That is the one you will use. Best to look at it and count the pins. You can also call Silverleaf.

Do a search for VMSpc. Looks like Alpines had 6 pin plug until 2004 than 9 pin after that. My 08 Alpine has a 9 pin and my 02, I think, had a 6 pin. My guess is that coaches with Vansco have 9 pin plugs and those without have 6 pin. So yours is probably a 6 pin.

Sorr-rrr-ry!!!!!

Mike:

You will need the 6-pin. I purchased mine (at the suggestion of Silver Leaf) from RVUpgrades. com for $340.55. Software is free, online.

Their website is just plain lousy, as a search returns only the 9-pin for $32.99. However, a google inquiry returns this page

Silverleaf VMSPC Engine Monitoring on Your Laptop

showing the 6-pins for $306.25 (same for 9-pin). Dunno why.

Otherwise, Silver Leaf Electronics can sell direct, too.

Mike:

As a note, I had to have Silver Leaf email me a file for the ISL400 engine profile. It may be included in the newer software, but when I downloaded it, only a Cat engine profile was included.

If you need it, I can email it, too (just need to root around my hard-drive for it).

You may already know this but IF you can use a serial port (as opposed to USB) interface only to the JIB you can buy them directly from SilverLeaf. Cost is in the $100 area if I remember correctly. It does come with the 6 or 9 pin cable. Software is the same.

For an '03 the serial port JIB is fine but for late model (06 or 07 and later) you need the USB model to get transmission information.
