Wanting New Headlights

I understand that our headlights are from a E39 BMW. Does anyone know what years fit a 2003 Alpine. I'm thinking about putting a set of Projector Lights on. I don't do much driving at night because I CAN'T SEE. If i'm headed down the wrong path please tell me before I waste the money. I waste enough on my own. Thanks Dave

Yup--5 series BMW E39 1997-2003, believe the E39 denotes which lights fit, not the actual model years involved. Many different options on the internet--Amazon or E-bay. Main differences are black background matte around bulbs vs chrome; and BMW uses separate turn signals so some versions have single filament bulb socket for the outside amber lights running lights vs turn signal--may have to remove/replace with dual-filament sockets. There were also different wiring configs for BMW from 97 thru 03, so many lights come with a variety of pig-tail plugs for connecting low and hi-beams. Your 03 isn't Vansco so no "mystery" wiring to figure out on the coach but if you get halos, you will have to decide how/when they get powered, eg, running/parking lights vs low/hi-beams only...good hunting....
PS--driver's side radius on cap is a good fit but passenger side doesn't match new lens very well. Most new lights, the aim is adjustable but lights usually end up being a bit low for good night driving visibility.

Not really--exact OEM replacements from BMW are pricy but the after-market reproductions are very reasonable--IMHO....

e39 bmw headlights | eBay

I bought some last year from one of these suppliers. Whatever ones I bought were a bit tight fitting, but fit and adjusted well.

Easy--except for 98 and 99 models, same E-39, 5-Series BMW lights fit all later models--search of this forum will reveal everything you will ever need to know--about headlights.......

Thanks everyone for all the help. I may have solved my problem by elongating the upper mounting holes. I pulled them 1\2 inch and put the screws back in at about 1/4 inch. Went out last night to see how it worked. Sitting there in the stored position my adjustment moved my lights up almost 2 feet. I'll have to take it for a night time test drive. Thanks again for all the help. Dave
PS, Look at these $187 for a pair.

Well I stepped up to the plate and bought a set of Halo Projectors. Does anyone know if the Halos really help with night vision or is it just for show. That would determine how I would wire them into what lamps. Thanks for the help

IMHO--Halos are just for show......the inside projection bulbs make the most difference....

Light are mounted and halos working. I think I still need more usable light. Can I plug in LED's to the projector part of the lights? I know I can use them on High beam (no projector) I put in 100 watt super bright bulbs but can't really see a difference in the lights.

I have removed mine and sanded them twice over the last ten years. Both times the headlamps came out great, as in new. Now I have an adjuster broken and those can be replaced also.
When we first bought our coach our lights weren't aimed correctly. Now that they are aimed correctly, it is hard to imagine better visibility down the road. As good as our HID's in the car.
I have the driving lights aimed to the right for illumination of the road shoulder and ditch for the errant deer. . We still drive too much at night...........

Just bought an 99 alpine passenger side headlight seems loose internally like adjustment system is broken. Not opposed to buying new lights but all the ones I see are 2000 and later models any suggestions?
