Warning Buzzer/HWH System

I've got problems with the HWH System/Ignition System and need to turn off the Jacks Down Buzzer. Where exactly is the buzzer and what does it look like and is there an alerrnative to disconnecting at the buzzer? Thanks for the help. BTW we are in Libby MT heading for Glacier NP.

Do do not say why the buzzer is going off. I have had ours activate while moving and it turned out to be "a" jack that did not fully retract. I hit the store button again and soon the buzz stops. Maybe you all have a "lazy" jack that is not fully moving into the store position. Have you all looked at the stored jacks (i.e. fully up)? Just wondering.

Then give the folks at HWH a call, they have been really good at helping out.

Don't know much about HWH, but I suspect that they all work something the same. My Kwikee (Power gear) jacks down alarm has recently been staying on. It usually goes off after 40+ miles, but it drives DW up the windshield. I'm hearing impaired and just leave my hear aids out.

However, to disable mine i pull of the touch pad and remove the power to the board. On mine it is a 4 pin snap in connector. When we stop I plug it back in and extend the jacks. Repeat as necessary.

Jeff, I assume you've visually checked all the jacks and they're fully retracted. You might try recycling the jacks as a normal leveling procedure followed by a store procedure. The control panel should display a red light indicating which jack is still considered "down". If one jack is displayed as still down but is fully retracted you may have a sensor problem. Just some things to check & try.

Hi All,
Didn't do a very good job this morning describing my situation. Problem occurs when I pull into a place to set up for the night. Process: Pull into spot and turn the engine off. Lower coach a bit to make sure that the jack pads are in the right places. (So far, irrelevant data). Turn key to the left to activate electric current to the HWH leveling system. LOW REAR AIR AND LOW FRONT AIR WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. WHEN THE JACKS START COMING DOWN THE JACKS DOWN LIGHT COMES ON AND THE WARNING BUZZER GOES OFF. The stuff in all caps is new. So, I'm thinking that I can live with the the lights but the buzzer is a PITA. If it were not buzzing I would be OK until until I can get to a repair facility. An additional piece of info. This morning when I turned the key to the left to retract the slide and raise the jacks, the buzzer did not sound, even though the jacks had not yet retracted. Thank-you for any help you Alpine owners may be able to provide.

Asssume you have been doing this for some time without consequence but have never heard of anyone "lowering the coach a bit to ensure the jack pads are in the right position." It is usually best to let the HWH system do its leveling thing from start to finish without intervening manually to lower coach. On our 03, the buzzer is a small round perforated disc under the dash to the right of the steering column.

Jeff - this may be irrelevant but when I turn my "key to the left" or to the "Accessory" position I do NOT ever get any alarms. I've also manually performed a "Dump" of the air bags but didn't get any alarms. I only get alarms when the key is to the right which means I have the engine running. Perhaps Old Scout or someone else can verify since he has the same year as mine.

Interestingly, I've also thought about doing a manual "Dump" to aid in postioning the jack pads. It seems no matter how hard I try to align those pads with the jacks they end up off center (unless I just get lucky!?). Lowering the coach gets the jacks closer to the ground making it easier to align the pads.

I started lowering the coach before engaging the auto-dump after installing some Motion Control Units. They slow down the air dump process considerably. So, to get the coach closer to the ground, I dump some air.

The key to the left and wierd stuff starts happening is bothersome. I am beginning to suspect the issue is in the ignition switch, though as for that, the HWH panel has been quirky of late as well. The earliest model Alpine's have a pivot point they open from rather than a slide tray. I've not heard of problems with the wires being pulled loose with this arrangement, like with the slide out control panels.
Thank-you for the help. Next step is to check under the dask for a perforated disc (and not perforate a disc).

Jeff - since you mentioned it, do you find that adding the Motion Control Units was worth the cost? Did they reduce that rocking and tilting motion caused by road conditions? Did you have them installed or DIY?

The MCU's helped the side-to-side rocking quite a bit. Did not eliminate it but certainly muted it. I ordered them from a supplier then had a buddy who does such work for a living install them. The install was pretty simple. I ran up on some ramps to get clearence underneath then let the air out of the bags. Friend cut the air line to each bag and inserted a unit into each line. The MCU's came with install instructions IIRC. We did the deed on a concrete pad behind my buddy's house.

I have never had a warning buzzer go off when the key is to the left, whether for jacks down, low airbags, or the gen slide out. I always operate the jacks with the key in the left position because I can't stand the buzzer either.

But my coach is a different year, so that might be apples and oranges.

I found the MCUs to be helpful but not the overall cure-all. Rocking reduced, but it seems stiffer than before. Seems like items in the cabinets fall over more easily on bumps because of additional stiffness. It still takes care going over speed bumps, especially at an angle rather than straight on. I think it helps a little with side winds, but not as much as the SafeTPlus steering stabilizer did.

Your's is an apple to apple comparison, I've got something screwed up. Before deactivating the buzzer, I am going to try the battery disconnects to see if perhaps that will reset whatever is messed up. I don't hold much hope for this but we shall see.
