warning horn

I was starting the engine , ignition in on position and a loud horn or warning sounded. I did this twice and on the third try the engine started fine. What could this be? It is very loud like an air horn inside. 04 Alpine with 400 cummins

How cold was it? Most diesels will have an audible alarm that will sound when the engine is cold and the glow plugs are working.

frankw:

There are a number of warning alarms, though not air horn loud:

-jacks down
-low front air
-low rear air

The sound comes from under the dash and is tied to the Vansco multi-plexer.

First, I would trace the sound to the source, see if any lights are showing on the dash, then check for blinking lights on the Vansco panel, in front of the passenger seat.

Then get back to us....
