Just wanted to let the group know that WRV paid for replacing our u-joint that failed in August. I sent the invoice in September. We had about given up, but the check came today. So, WRV may be slow, but they are sure!

Inlight of all the potentially issues out there right now (eg, u-joints, radiators, charge-air coolers, suspension/tire wear, battery charge, etc); I wonder which cases will merit reimbursement and why. Curious about the u-joints--was it the underlying assumption that the joints were being shipped dry from the manufacturer but WRV was not always doing the initial lubrication before/during assembly?

Our issue didn't seem to be related to being dry. The rear one had plenty grease, and the front one (that blew) probably blew the grease out when it went.

Hello:

From the years I was an Auto Mechanic and I still tinker on vehicles I have found that all U-Joints are assembled with grease so the needle bearings will stay in place during assembly and installation. Some U-Joints are permanently sealed and can not be lubricated unless you dissemble them and add more grease by hand. Others have Zert fittings for periodic lubrication. The 2001 Alpine manual calls for lubrication of the drive line every 3000 miles.

In checking on this issue I think you will find all is well and being handled and will be much better in 2008.. I'm sure WRV appreciated the patience and I believe you will see a GREAT 2008!!! Ron
