I haven't really decided what I'm going to do. It would be nice to have the Glendinning reel like came in the coach...mainly because I really like the hardwired feature... (although that seems to be a moot point from others experiences).
BUT a BUNCH of expense...!! Convenience is paramount...I'm just not sure its woth that much.. That would pay for new carpet (not that I need any), a new portable Winegard satellite dish for when the southern sky is obscured by trees, maybe a couple of tires..da da daaa. I think the device is over priced...but maybe not?
Monty you have a PM soon...I have a tax number with PPL..and I didn't know they sold reels . If that is wrong and you can get me a deal let me know...

It is a bunch of money. But storing and hauling out 30 feet of 50 amp cable by hand would not be much fun. And I have needed all of that 30 feet a number of times. I hauled out 30 amp cords on my previous class C, and that was not so bad. Now that I have had one, I won't be without one.
The only disadvantage I have with the reel is that it prevents me from using a two way pass through storage tray. As it is I installed a single direction tray right up to the back of the reel.

Thanks Mythplaced...good lead, and a better than new price, still plenty money for a used one, of course every bit helps....I looked for a power reel on E-Bay the other day and came up wih nothing. BUT I didn't have the proper name for it then.
Yep Jim it is a pain to reel in by hand ....especially since it doesn't have a bin like some of the old rigs do that is about waist high and dedicated to the power cord. Those were easy to do manually...and being younger didn't hurt any either

The picture shows that first cable reel glendinning CM-4 cablemaster marine rv | eBay is missing the "cable catch bucket" so be careful if you bid on it . The second one appreases to be complete .

Stan better off with a new one most likely, then you have warranty. All - please remember it keeps it working great when you (as it is going in to) make a loop and clean off the cable. This keeps dirt and stuuf off the rollers, take up assembly.

Your right Dave...the missing reel bucket and cord makes that one too high at the start in my opinion..
The other one isn't too bad ..cable included...I may bid on it.
However new is much better...as per Monty, just expensive.

The model that WRV used was the RVCM-7 which included the storage "bucket" for the power cable. It had a sticker price from WRV of $1,137. Glendinning also makes a model that dumps the cable into the manufacturers cable storage area, it look like the first one on ebay maybe that model.

I thought about installing the power cable reel but in the end decided I wanted a pass-thru cargo tray. The tray comes out past the slideout and makes storing the cable, hoses etc. easier.

That may be a good alternative..the reel kills that bay anyway.
Do you have a outlet that you plug/unplug the big cord from inside the bay?
I see a power cord on the tray...is that your main supply cord unplugged and coiled up...or a spare.

I was camping so the main cord was plugged in to the regular inlet in the service bay. The cord in the tray is a 20' 50A extension cord; the standard one coils up on top of this. I also carry a 30A extension cord, 20A extension cord, 50A surge protector and 50A-30A adapter. The plastic box has all the water hoses, filters etc.

My main cord is hard wired to the coach in that bay. Of course I could put in a plug recepticle there and a male plug on the end of the cord...
The only issue I see is crawling up to the bay to plug it in....Well maybe not if I do it before the slide is extended...except for the bin door?

The Glendinning power cord was an option on your year coach so you don't have the 50A receptacle in the service bay as I do. A pass-thru tray wouldn't work for you unless you reverted to the standard configuration. There is a picture of this in the brochure on the ACA website.
