What should I expect to pay 2005 34 FDDS

Hello
I am looking to upgrade into a better driving RV that can tow a trailer with my Jeep and occasionaly a 23ft boat. I am looking at a 2005 34ft FDDS with 40K miles. This is one of the few RVs I have found with a motor I am looking for and still at or under 34ft which is the maximum length in many of the places I regularly visit.

This forum has been an awsome resource for telling me what to look for and inspect. What can I expect to pay for this RV.

Thanks
Steve

Check out the NADA for used RV's and use Google to locate other similar coaches to see what they are selling for.

Steve, I hope you are aware that a 34' Alpine Coach is actually closer to 35' in total length, if that makes any difference to you. The brochure lists it at 34' 11".

Sorry, I can't help you on prices.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, I am aware that this RV is really closer to 35ft. I am hoping the parks I go to with a 34ft maximum will not be measuring, but I have never tried to get a rig right at that 34ft length in. This might still be a problem.

I did take a look at the NADA price on this coach. How close does NADA usually get to being accurate? This particular RV is priced right at NADA low retail. This is buying from an individual. I tried to look for other Alpines for sale and this shorter model appears to be less common than the longer ones. I don't know how to compare the prices paid for longer Alpine models. I would think the longer models sell for more, but I have seen some 36ft 2005 Alpines sell for prices lower than what this 34ft is listed at.

Definetly hope to meet some fellow RVers. This is somwething I really enjoy and that is why I am looking for a coach that will be a better driving experience than what I am dealing with today.

Thanks Again!
Steve

Steve, first you need to know the condition of the coach, as NADA lists several quality levels. The number you should be concerned with is: Low Retail, then if dealer take 30-35% off that number and start there. If private party, you then need to determine if it's in excellent shape, how old the batteries are, if he has service records, and if in your opinion it's in excellent shape. Then again once you have all the options it has on it, do another NADA quote, and decide if the owner is pricing it correctly, based on it's condition. I get a 30K spread on mine when I do a search, and it's lost value since 2 months ago as well.

Steve, We bought a 2005 34' FDDS 400hp with 21,000 miles last year. Had to go all the way to PA, but it was worth it. There are lots of factors that determine price..with my slow typing, too much to list here. You can call me if interested at 970-749-5082 and I will give you what info I can. Good luck, Mike
PS..we tow a Jeep too...04 Rubicon

Steve,

If you are trying compare with only 34', there is probably basically the same equipment as 36'. so I don't think there would be much price difference. Unless someone has recently bought one, it would be hard to say what it is worth. I would look at NADA and the FMCA classifieds and make an offer first before you go look at it. With the high price of diesel and the economy, I don't know how fast they are moving. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't act fast enough and the one I was looking at sold. Hope to find another one for sale in the Southwest somewhere.

Thanks again

Sorry to hear that. But at least you learned a little about what is a good price. One more data point.
