The Rca RTD250 receiver that came with the Alpine is a piece of trash. The unit has ceased to exist today-{which has knocked out all my sound...the cd changer/player went long ago... it did not even last a month.... Now I do not want to go back to this unit since they have a horrible review... But I know nothing about Dvd/cd/digital surround sound receivers..... What would be a excellent replacement that would be easy to interchange ?
Something I can count on especially not to skip or miss playing CD's going down the road???? Thank you !

Agree with you on RCa unit, On my 05 it lasted about a year, Way to much heat in the compartment, Picked up a Sony DAV-HDx265 (1000 Watt)at best buy for $300. inc.new speakers that have to be rewired using existing wire. Far better unit. Good luck Larry

Thank you Larry!
I had no idea where to go except back to the rca rtd250....
I will look into that immediately...

just shocked how bad this unit is and the awful reviews it gets...

I am guessing it is similair in size and configuration....
from what I read, "rca home theater" NOT very good.....

My 5th wheel came with all Sony components that have given no problems at all.

Did you have to install a cooling fan or does the new unit run cooler?

Mmmm.. Very good question...??

Larry, I been checking Dvd/cd receivers all day and that sony 265 along with the 266 and 267 rank very high in satisfaction and cost/quality.

I believe this is the way I will go....
One question??? Do you ever plug in a laptop to it and play music off it ? I understand it has that capability. You may need a adapter though, to make it work.
I really like that aspect.

I was zapped with lightning and replaced LCD TV, sat receiver, amd surround sound receiver, since new sat. receiver is not as deep as old unit I moved it to lower compartment and put Sony in top compartment, installed 2- 120MM fans one for each shelf. Cut 2- 4in. holes through side of cabinet behind TV.with a hole saw. quiet and moves a lot of air. Can't feel any heat while running.
