I'm installing a Winegard in-motion satellite dish on the roof of my Alpine and I'm concerned about the constant noise while driving. I can install the dish on the front, middle or rear of the roof and am not sure which location will ultimately be the best.
While driving it is very quiet up front so I'm tempted to mount the dish in the middle or rear of the motorhome to move the noise away from the front.
While in bed flipping channels, causing the dish to toggle between different satellites, I don't want the sound above the bed so mounting the dish in the middle or front seems better.
Overall, the middle of the motorhome seems like the best location.
Any suggestions?

I would suggest forward of the front A/C. Using the most important consideration as the chances of having trees block the dish when parked. I think the mid-mounted factory manual dish has a higher probability of being of being under a tree which is at the side of the coach. While, if you back into a spot, the front is at least clear in two directions along the length of the coach.
Of course, mounting at the front would make the install easier, with the destination of the coax being the front overhead console. Just my $.02

I would put it behind the front AC. The Kingdome I removed from mine sounded like a thrashing machine going down I-10 between Banning and San Bernardino. "Daddy Louie "actually taped a video camera on the roof to show how violently the Alpine was shaking a MotoSat Executive. MotoSat consequently moved them free of charge on several model years, this was back in 2000. The MotoSat unit was virtually bullet proof on other brands of coaches but was failing on Alpines with alarming regularity.

I would install the Winegard in-motion satellite dish as far back as the 30 ft. power and coax cable will allow. The dish works great, but you do hear noise from the dish constantly moving to stay locked on to the satellite. With the satellite installed towards the rear of coach, no noise up front.
I installed my near the back of the coach by using the air condition channel in the ceiling to run wires forward. I used the 12v power in the front cabinet, from the antenna amplifier to power the dish. .
