Whoops
The handle on my oil dipstick broke and is beyond repair. I thought it would be a simple matter to call CoachCare and order a replacement. They asked for my engine serial # and after a couple of weeks sent me a dip stick about 13" long for $80.00.
They told me that this is the OEM stick for my engine and the long one that I need was made by Alpine.
Where can I get one ?

Chris, what kind of chassis do you have? They are the ones that installed the longer dipstick to get it to the rear of the compartment for ease of using and calibrated it to your oil level. Look at this diagram: http://www.mandmcoach.com/spartan/mtnmstr/mm5-6.htm this is for a Spartan Chassis.

Have you tried a speed shop? They may have a "universal" type that you can trim to size and use-it will be chromed most likely. Or maybe you can modify a auto tranny dip stick to fit.

Palehorse89,
This is the Alpine Coach forum, Alpines only came on one chasis. Alpine owners know this. That is the reason Chris posted this on the Alpine Coach forum rather than on one of the other forums.

Chris, your year coach had either the ISC or ISL engine. If you can tell us which one you have hopefully someone can measure the length of their dipstick and you can get one made. It is unlikely you can buy one the correct length.

Thanks everyone for your input. My engine is the ISL. Maybe I'm approaching this backwards. My stick is ok, it's the handle that has gone south. I'll try thinking about jury rigging a handle.

Another Thought: You might try some of the folks who have been referenced in this forum as selling parts off wrecked coaches. Good Luck.
