Our 2003 40FDTS door appears to close well and looks sealed. However, while driving we get a lot of wind noise at the top of the door. Also, the roof cap on the Fantastic Fan bangs continuously while driving. We have tried tightening the fan cover using the knob under the fan, but to no avail. Has anyone experienced either of these problems? If so, we are open to repair suggestions.

Dave,

For wind noise from the door, I always look at how the door seals. Any poor seals can cause noise. On the entry door check the gasket around the screen, it does most of the door sealing. Noise can also be caused by external problems. For these I always use blue masking tape. I tape over any area that is suspect, then drive and listen for wind noise. By installing and removing tape I can usually find the problem area. I then work on solving it, usually with foam rubber tape.

Do you have vent covers installed over your vents. Like these, this is just one of many brands.

Vent Covers

I have used these for years and have not had noise problems.

On my 03 vents I put a strip of foam around where the vent closes.

David & Kacy,

Fantastic Fan has a wonderful reputation for customer service, even years after the fan may have been installed. They seem to really want happy customers. If you don't find an easy fix, I suggest you phone them (800-521-0298)
www.fantasticvent.com They are in Michigan.

Good luck!
