We just took delivery on May 1, 2007 and after our 2,000 mile trek home, we have a severe wind noise at the front door. Seeems to come from the upper area. The screen door is quiet, but the wind noise is so bad it is hard to talk to spouse. Izzy tried to add some material aroud the door entry way, but it did not work, Any one have any ideas. We were told with the Izzy fix all would be quiet, but it is not. Thanks> TGF tgfettig@milwpc.com

I had the same problem, but the coach was out or warranty. If under warranty, the dealer should be able to fix it.

I called the door manufacturer and they were very helpful in giving specific instructions on how to fix it this problem. I was able to fix it about 90%.

I have just picked up my 2007, I do not seem to have any door wind noise, but have some from the front. I noticed on my coach that there is a gap at the top of the strip that sticks out in front of the hinge and the strip over the door. This is the type of thing that can cause noise. How I have always found where wind noise is coming from is to put blue masking tape over gaps, holes or joints and then drive to see if the noise changes. I did this today to find some noise coming from the gap above the generator slide cap.

Dale: So where did you apply the blue tape. I assume that you applied it inaside the coach where ever you had wind noise. Thanks>TGF

TGF, when we received our 2005 unit (new) it had the same awful door wind noise. Dealer played with 2 or 3 times and nothing ever changed. My wife took some of that non skid material that you get to put under throw rugs and packed about 5 levels and added it to about 2' at the radius of the door(you may have to play with position and thickness but I bet you can get it to shut up). She holds it in place and you slam the door hoping her fingers are not in the way. If they are then you have to tolerate all that screaming. Assuming fingers are free we were able to shutup the noise. Problem being is every time you opened the door it fell down and we had to do it again. Eventually if you opened the door carefully it stuck up there and we were no longer hoarse when we got to our destination.
I was pretty dissatisfied with this solution and spoke with Mike Glazier(no longer w/ Alpine unfortunately) and he sent some type of retrofit kit to our dealer. It was installed and we have not heard a noise since. Have traveled over 4000 miles since the retrofit. Problem is you now realize that there are other noises in your coach (nothing like that door). I would suggest going to Dave Kaampi who I believe has replaced Mike and ask about the update they did on Ulmer's coach #23857. Knowing what you are going through this is like a blessing in disguise.
Good luck

If you slam Carol's fingers in the door.....doesn't that cover up the wind noise?

Tom

Carol, I'm sorry about Tom

TGF,

Sorry to take so long to reply, on the road with limited access to the forum. I apply the tape outside over any seam, opening or any area that looks like it could create any noise. This would be all around the door including the hinge. I would also try between the rain gutter over the door and the "wind strip" in front of the hinge. Since this will require sealing the door you will need a helper in a chase car. I drive a while to see if it helped and then add, move or remove tape as needed to find problem area. Then I can try to correct problem with foam tape to seal the area. The door is a problem area as air can enter on the outside in one area, but create the noise in another area where it is actually entering the coach. Good luck.

Dale

I had the same problem with my '05. When I was in Yakima Kimo heard it during a test drive. When I came back to pick up the coach they had added a strip of the waffle tape, or should I say weather stripping. I was skeptical since it was so thick, however it fixed the problem. The strip was from the upper hinge up.

Dale, I honestly do not think it is an outside issue. I even think that some holes were filled up inside the front column inside the generator cavity.
