We just had MCD shades installed on all the side windows but would have considered AutoMotion if a dealer was close to our current location (Crestview, Florida). There wasn't so we went with MCD.

For me, it's mostly a question of installation quality & reliability. Check them out thoroughly AFTER installation and BEFORE you leave or travel too far away in case there's any issues. Once we returned to our temporary home away-from-home we had the vanity window blind fall & had to fix it myself, the living room slide window is binding on the valance and doesn't go up freely, and the other living room window doesn't go up quite enough (without help) to avoid banging while traveling. Yes, it's our fault for not checking the blinds out before leaving but figured for what we paid (way too much?!) we didn't expect problems. Some definite disappointment. We'll be traveling south where the "home" office of the dealer resides and will get our issues resolved.

My point is that I doubt there's much difference in the blinds and more concern for the planning and installation. Just sayin'.

Another vote for MCD. Have had them since 8/08 and very pleased. We had issues with the springs in the roller assembly early on but MCD changed suppliers a couple of years ago. Had the new springs installed in 2010 and have had no problems since. On nice thing about these springs is that both the tension on the spring and how far up the shade goes can be adjusted by wheels on the ends of the shades.

I put MCD and the solar screen on the side windows. I installed them myself, not to bad if you remove the valences.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the original MCD and their new Gold Series?

I can't remember the difference, but I guess it is on their website.

We replaced our pleated shades with MCDs last year. One of the best things we have done. We did the installation ourselves.

We purchased the original shades. The Gold series has a bit different material and the bottom where you pull it down is different. But the biggest difference, in my opinion, is the way you make adjustments. The adjustment mechanism on the original DUO shades is easy to manually adjust with a wheel at each end for speed and length. After reviewing the differences we made a choice and the extra cost has been more than worth it for us.

Who sells the Auto motion windshield shades?

Online I only see the small ones?

Do you think they will be on display at the Tampa show?

Another vote for mcd. we love them . Redlands Truck and RV measured the windows, discussed with us which we wanted motorized, etc. We went to the FMCA rally in Indio and afterwards returned and had them installed.
Two advantages beyond the normal is that they keep the rig warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Yes, they all cost money but we did it and lover them. Mel and Lorene

We replaced the original shades after replacing the window on the PS Side with MCD's. I installed them, it was a job, because there is almost not enough room for them to go up/down with the tight area behind the valance. One has to be down a little for the back one to go up, that is because I am almost at the maximum height of the shade. The thickness of the material has a bearing on what that limit is I believe. I like them, and they have been in for over a year now, and no issues other than the above.

I think I would have the factory do it, if you are in that area.

MCD American vs GOLD Series Shades

Here are the differences between the American and GOLD Series MCD shades. Hope this helps.

The MCD American Series has the best solar screen, has adjustment wheels at the top of the assembly for tension and upper stop points, and has an external aluminum hem rail. The night shade is available in our vinyl and is also available in some decorator fabrics.

The MCD GOLD Series has the same solar screen, but with a slightly looser weave. The tension and stop point are adjusted with a screw driver at the end of the assembly before you install the shade. It locks in place, so you should not have to adjust it again. The fabric is wrapped around the hem rail at the bottom. The night shade is available in any of our vinyl fabrics.

That Home Depot Bali option is only about $125, MCD's are a bit overpriced IMO

Other problem is MCD for the windshield is only motorized.
