Windshield

All,

We are having the passenger windshield replaced by insurance. Does anyone know what other makes/models used the same windshields as the Alpine?

Thanks in advance.

RV Glass Solutions/Coach Glass should be able to provide an answer.

I’m curious to know the reason for the question.

...the generic code for that particular windshield is etched on the glass by the manufacturer....don't know of any source that would track what other brands of RV uses the same window--not sure how knowing that would help the search effort?

Windshield

Hi,
We have Progressive Insurance which then contacts Safelite Solutions and they contact Duncan Systems Motorhomes out of Elkhart, IN to get our passenger side windshield replaced after the gasket failed. Which we had replaced at Temecula Valley RV last summer. They didn't have any issue getting a new one sent to the glass installer.

I have had both the driver and passenger sides glass replaced. I went through Grizzly Glass in Coeur d' Alene ID. Other than waiting a few days to get the glass ordered, there was no problem in getting it

This is what I was worried about; availability if they were specifically searching for a coach as rare as ours. My initial thought process was that if the windshield was one in a more common coach that the glass replacement folks weren’t aware of could relate to it taking longer for them to source it.

Great to hear it!

Paul, how long did it take for your installer to get the glass?

They were both in stock in AZ and being shipped. Supposed to be here and installed before Thanksgiving

Coach Glass did the Alpine Coach windshield design originally and can make a new one at anytime, left or right of split windshield or full one piece type.

Windshield

About 3 years ago we had both left and right replaced by RV Fog Dr in Searcy, AR. When we arrived they had both pieces. When they went to install them the driver’s side was scratched, they had to order a replacement. The Florida warehouse was out of stock (they had the pieces but they were delaminating) so the replacement had to come from Oregon. It was shipped Fedex ground (to large for any other method) on Monday, arrived late Thursday because of a snow storm, they installed the driver’s side, then Friday PM did the passenger side. RV Fog Dr guys worked OT to get us out by Saturday AM. From experience I believe the glass is fairly common.

Thanks Dr Dave! The glass is here, but the shop can’t get out until next week. The dealership has the RV now, so the glass company will have to coordinate with them...

You have a 2 piece windshield so be sure they level the coach before they replace the windshield and only do one side at a time! The windshield is an integral part of the frame and if the coach is not level or they try to replace both sides at once the alignment of the frame can shift and it is almost impossible to get it back, in other words, the new windshield will not fit precisely.
