We just took our coach to storage lot and found that our passenger windshield has popped out. At the bottom it is completely loose and at the center post the window has moved over about 1/2 " .

Any suggestions????

Most any auto glass shop can re-seat it for you, often in less than an hour and not too expensive. Depends, of course, on the actual method of attachment of the windshield. Some of the glued in ones are a bear to handle.

It probably happened when you put the jacks down. Somehow the frame twisted enough to torque the front cap and pp the windshield loose. It happens.

Well,.. In actuality, it happened after sitting in front of our house for a week - no jacks down & closed up - on the way to a truck shop to change to the Rycon Hydrolic fluid!

We had some one come to the house the day before to power wash and wax the coach. We are thinking that possibly they put too much pressure on the top corner of the windshield - forcing it out at the bottom.

We will duct tape on the bottom of the windshield to bring it back home and have a mobile unit come put it back in. The Alpine split windshield is GLUED in (a rubber sealant) and it is a BEAR to handle!

We had his happen to us. We contacted our insurance company, and they had a company come out and had them fix it with NO DEDUCTABLE!

They said hat they were VERY happy to fix it BEFORE it broke!

I am sure this may vary state to state, company to company.

Check the window frame size to the openning. On some the hole was about 1/2" to big causing the window to move allowing water to get into the coach and cause other problems. The solution is to get a custom window built to the correct size and stop the shifting. This was not talked about by WRV

If the ureathane bond is broken it can be noticed if you look carefully from the outside. I would look the one over that stayed in and try to determine if the bond is broken on it also. Just applying the sealant and pushing it back in would not be my choice of a repair. Unless the installation procedure has changed, the glass needs to be cleaned and etched around the interior edge before being reset with new sealant or tape.

Curious question -- have you had the front window replaced before ? I ask this as on my coach, the front window had been replaced before I bought it. I had a crack to appear and when I went to have the window replaced, the glass shop was totally amazed. The replacement window had not been primed before it was put on and as a result, it had not adhered correctly to the sealant that holds the window in place. It was barely attached in only about 3 or 4 places. The guy said I had been very lucky that the window had not just fallen out with a hard stop. He said that it is very important that the shop who does the repair "know" what they are doing or you can have a window come loose and fall out.

Dave you have that entirely right. Glass has to be primed/etched before setting it into the tape or ureathane material.
It really is a simple process but no short cuts or hurry to get out of the shop.

THE WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN RESET!

In February we had a windshield (driver's side) shatter and Duncan Glass sent someone out from Universal Auto in Anaheim to replace it. They did a great job so we called them to do this.

They just finished re-installing the glass after taking it down, cleaning it and prepping it. They told me that the problem was that WRV never used a "primer" on the glass before installing it. They put on the edge of the
window and on the coach edge where it would be placed what looked like a black super glue that they call a primer. It took them about 2 hours (2 guys working on it).

For anyone in So Cal we highly recommend this company. The guy at Universal Auto is Ray and their phone is 714-449-0449 and they come to our house. They came within 3 hours after I called. The cost for the Labor was $225. We had called someone that my husband had gotten a recommendation from here in town and when I called them, I could hardly understand them. They only wanted $125 but I was not confident they knew what they were doing and would rather pay more and know it was being done right!

It looks great and we will let it set for 40 hours before moving it to go to San Diego for the rest of the week!

Glad to hear that you got the problem solved and could use the existing glass. Sounds like it was the priming problem that I mentioned above -- don't know why someone "short cuts" this step but, I am afraid that it is done more than we realize. I know when I have any work done, I try to watch to make sure that they do what I am aware of that should be done -- and if it is not done, I am not bashful -- I ask questions -- sometimes I am right and sometimes I learn something new.

Went over to the coach to unplug and turn off charger. Passenger side windshield is popping out. I called Uhlmann RV and they referred me to a place in Chehalis, WA who will fix it on Monday. Said it will take the morning. They do all Uhlmann's work, and so I am hopeful this will take care of it. If the DS needs it they will fix that one too. Don't know what caused it to happen now, did not notice it at the coast, nor when we put it away about 3 weeks ago. Strange no hot weather either.

I contacted Ray and he explained the age of the coach causes weight to bear down on the windshield and this causes the popping out effect. No great fix just keep after it.
