'02 National Islander Dust Storm

When my 2002 National Islander is on a dirt road/RV Park it creates a dust storm behind it. Should there be a shield of some sort under the engine compartment to blow the air out the sides instead of down?

First, slow down. The fan should be blowing through your radiator. If part of the shrouding is missing, it will blow down. If your radiator/cool pack is blocked, it will blow down. You might be due for a radiator cleaning, best done by professionals who may have to take it out of the RV to get it fully cleaned and inspected for leaks.

The fan controller is probably shot. It is located on the rear side of the radiator on the bottom. Remove the electrical connectors and clean them with brake fluid.

One other thing is that the fan will run high if you have vent or the air conditioner selected.

If you don't want to spend the bucks on a new Sauer Danfoos controller, you can install a wax valve Source Engineering Inc | Custom RV Chassis | Eugene, OR
