While driving our RV we lost the outside cover for our furnace.

Would like to know if others have had this problem and their solution.

We are able to get a replacement from Newmar but we must have it painted. Will we be able to obtain this paint from a auto paint store or must it come from Newmar??

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks -- KR

Been there and had that happen!

First, on your new one you need to get a small luggage lock or some type of clip and secure the new one. Its easy. EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS!

For painting, its a problem. I have a 99 DSDP so did not have full body paint. But it was a chore. I had to call Newmar and get the paint specs. They are in your kitchen cabinet but I called to confirm. Went to Pittsburgh Paints Automotive Group place and had them to mix the paint. It was expensive. Then had to get the clear coat. I got a small hand sprayer for this type of job.

All said and done, I don't remember the full cost but it was like $80 or more as getting a small quantity of this paint was expensive.

All said and done, the door is acceptable but not a perfect match as I have faded some over the years.

Bob

You can probably get the door from any RV parts supplier, like Modern Trailer in El Monte or Benlo in Irwindale etc.
Just about any body shop should be able to paint it for you. If they don't have the space to accomodate your coach, you may have to remove a piece of the coach for color match.
If you can get the paint specs it makes it easier, if not, bottom line, paint matching in the end involves the ol' eyeballs.
This is what we would suggest at our shop.

Thanks for the comments. Wanted to make sure we were doing the right thing. My husband has the equipment to spray paint and is pretty good doing it. I promise we are going to secure it better than what was there originally.

This was my first post. Thanks so much.

Welcome kr to irv2
Inside one of your kitchen cabinets there is a sticker that will have the Sherwin Williams paint code on it. You should be able to match the paint with this code for your coach.
Enjoy the forums and come over to the Newmar Forum and I can give you some KARMA.

Try Pep Boys for the paints first " spray cans", and do it yourself, or pay a shop a small fortune.

I had a couple of little "errors" on my 06 Dutch Star while in Michigan and took it to a body shop, they used a machine to match to colors, did not even need the Newmar numbers, was informed that good shops match with computers now. Don't ask me how it worked but it matched and you could not even tell it had been repainted. They did not even want to see the touch up bottles that came with the coach when I purchased it.
