I decided today to run the genny for a bit and couldn't get the A/Cs to work so I started checking AC system. I found that the fridge,,hot water heater and none of the bottom wall sockets on the curb side were working. The microwave and the socket over the sink were working and the front plug under the vanity in the bedroom and forward were all working except for the socket over the bar.
The dedicated socket in the back street corner of the bedroom which has the powertec plug in it also is dead..
So what is the problem and if it's a blown fuse, where would I probably find it on my '01 Tradewinds 7390?

Do you have the same problem when connected to shore power.

This is a guess. but you have a 50 amp rig right?

If you check you will find all the devices that do not work are on the same "leg"

And one of the circuit breakers on your generator is in the off/tripped position

Yes,except that I'm only on a 20 amp circuit at this time, but I turned it off when I was running the gen.

Yes,they all seem to be on the same leg,but there seem to be two legs that are working. I will try to find which one may be tripped. Also the TVs and all the satellitte stuff is working..

Did you check the circuit breaker panel? Should be inside, mine is across from the bath, down low.

Yes,but I'm going to check it again on the next trip up. It seems as if almost, not all, every time I want to excercise that thing something happens.Last time was that it blew the 150 AMP breaker and I had a heck of a time finding that. Finally hit me in the middle of the night as to where to look and shor 'nuff there it was..The fuse panel says below and it's actually BEHIND...

Well, I will give you the suspect list in order

Starting with the generator itself.. This is ON THE GENERATOR there are two circuit breakers Suspect #1 both in current path order and in the order of things to check.
Visually inspect and cycle the breakers (OFF then ON)

Suspect 2: Current path, is the connections on the wires from the generator to the Auto Transfer switch,, These are down the order to check list though.

Suspect 3 The wire itself, see 2, and 4 is the connection to the ATS>> We will check that next but.

Suspect 5 path wise is #2 in checking order.. That's the ATS

Check for power in (NOTE ON the generator termnals L-1 to L-2 may read ZERO, this is normal, Measure L-1 to Neutral and L-2 to Neutral, these should bet 120 or close to it)

IF voltage on both that clears everything (Current path) up to this point

Measure L to N (Both L-1 and L-2) on the output,, IF voltage on both ATS good, if voltage on 1. Problem found: ATS

Current path continues to the breaker box, again all connectoins and wires but they are down the list wise, Next spot to check is the breaker box itself

Measure voltage on the screws to white wire bus on both MAIN breakers (Ignore green) Should be 120-120 If it is then you have cleared everything UP TO the breaker itself.

Cycle breaker Do not accept that it looks to be on CYCLE it.. IF problem fixed great)

Pull two breakers.. Depending on your box you will either pull one on either side of the main or two next to each other.

Probing with an insulated handle probe check for power on the two contacts the breakers connect to inside the box.. 120-120 is good 120-0 or 0-120 means bad main breaker.

After that you are on your own.

NOTE: a first step

With the breaker box open press the top of each breaker (Which end of the breaker is top? of it is a standard lever type like a SQUARE D. then "ON" is toward the "top" even if it is one side or another)

I have had breakers come right off the bus bar.

Ok,checked all the breakers and they're all ok as far as turning on and off.. Will check the rest of the stuff tomorrow..Batteries are showing red even though I have put it back to the 20amp shore power and the genny turns over but slowly and I have to start the engine to get the genny to start and will be checking ALL connections when under it tomorrow..
I always thought,TT mentality, that if you weren't on shore power or genny that you didn't have AC,but I have AC to the micro, bathroom, the l;ower street sockets and the sat dish and tvs.. Wassup with that or am I going to learn something new.????

It sounds like you have a inverter and it is turned on.

That is another source of issues.. If you have an inverter.. It may have circuit breakers as well.. Sometimes they are hard to find,

Well,I got several issues taken care of today and all I had to do was to remove my big expensive broke surge guard from the power cord.I got the schematics out and followed all the lines out that I could find and checked every fuse and breaker in the back compartments and no go.I had already turned the inverter off as the batteries were going down at an alarming rate.Checked this AM and the house batteries were in the red.Hummm.Got out the controller book and read everything that I could about it and then the light went on..Well actually,it was a lite that wasn't on..Hummm,why isn't the AC in light on??? Went out and checked the switch,20 AMP, in the garage and it was on and there was 120V at the outlet,so looked at the surge guard and it was only showing the line 1-2 lights and no on light..I went in and re-read the instructions for the surge guard and there it was,"BROKE,send in for repair".. Sooo,I guess there's a trip to CW tomorrow to get it replaced as I have the warranty where all you have to do is take it back to them and get another one....

From the original post it sounded like you were having issues running on Generator

From the "Solved" post it sounds like the problem was when on shore power.

It may be you had two problems. Not only was there a shore power cord unplugged but a breaker may have been tripped or a screw may have been loose or.. Read on.

And you reset the breaker and/or tightened the screw in the course of finding the problem

The read on part
the auto-transfer switch may have failed one time but worked the next again possibly due to you banging around trying to find the problem.
