1997 Tropical water pump
Good morning everyone. The fresh water pump went out in my 97 Tropical and I will have to change it out. Any suggestions as to the quietest one? It's mounted right under our bed. The wife goes to the bathroom several times a night and the pump noise always wakes me up.

Don't have any real preference for quieter pumps but, you might want to consider installing an accumulator tank while you are replacing the pump. Pretty much eliminates the pump running for just a flush plus it eliminates the surging while running the water faucets/shower also. Do a search on accumulator tank here there is lots of information, probably even installation pictures.

You could also try to insulate the new pump from transferring vibration (noise) to the RV structure. Mount pump on rubber vibration isolators, install sections of flexible hose loops before and after pump, and finally, you could build an enclosure for the pump to silence it.
One other suggestion, you could relocate pump to an outside compartment, but that would require plumbing, wiring changes and if you use your RV in colder climates you'd have to provide heat to prevent freezing.

No suggestion for the new pump but I removed & discarded the screws that secures my pump & then slid a piece of soft foam under it. The pipes hold the pump in place & that took care of most of the noise.

Dwight, the vibration from the pump didn't cause the pump to "walk" and cause leaks?

A cheap isolation mount that I have yous before is to mount the pump on 2 stiff hoses to isolate the pump from the MH.

So far no problem. The piece of old soft furniture foam sticks to the compartment floor & the pump sinks down in the foam a little and stays there.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'll try Dwight's method with the foam and just watch it to make there's not going to be any problems.

In addition the foam can act like a sponge for any leaks!
