1998 National RV Tropi Cal / Chevy P30 chassis / Windshields coming out

I seem to be having problems finding the info I am looking for concerning the windshields wanting to come out of the gaskets on my 98 TropiCal. I have only very recently acquired the unit and would like to know if there is a permanent fix for this issue. All help and advice appreciated. Thanks in advance

The chassis manufacturer really has nothing to do with the windshield installation. That was designed and installed by National RV.

It's not really a DIY job, special adhesives, gaskets, etc. are used. You'll need to take it to a windshield installer. If it's a two piece windshield, they might have to remove both and reinstall. They might also find the front structure is flexing, causing the windshield to pop out. To remedy that might involve installing steel braces to stop the movement.

Be sure you level the RV without twisting the frame. Using pairs of jacks at a time is the best method.

When using the leveling Jacks do you first raise the front a few inches before leveling with the rears? Not doing that is the main cause of windshield popping out or cracking.

We have a '99 TropiCal and last fall realized the windshield was popping out. We were lucky to find someone to do it and he told us, it had been worked on before and instead of seating the glass in a new gasket, they did the best they could and filled the gap with a black caulking of some kind. We bought a new gasket and the glass man did an awesome job installing the windshield. Even the rattle is gone now! Wasn't cheap but we feel it was done right. We DID give up our seasonal RV spot at our favorite lake because getting into it put too much torque on the coach. Best wishes with your repairs.
