Slide out won't come out. What would cause the slide out to not work?

Offhand I would suspect no power getting to the slide mechanism. Unless you're mechanically/electrically inclined, a trip to an RV repair facility may be in order.

Good luck resolving your problem and safe travels..

When you try to put it out do you hear any noise/clicking?? Could be a fuse and you can locate it in the compartment where all the electrical stuff is. Look for a white/tan fuse, it's a 30 amp slow blow fuse. If you don't have a fuse tester take it to Radio Shack and they'll test it. They also have that fuse in stock, unlike Walmart and other places like that. If the fuse is good check the wiring where the motor is at.

A whole lot of possibles, and questions .
New to you unit ? Just out of storage ? Slide worked yesterday but not today ? Slide in or out ?
Have you checked the batteries for good connections and state of charge?
Slide motors need more power than the convertor/charger can provide, so fully charged coach batteries are a must.

Skip brings up some good points. Start your MH up, wait a few minutes then try the slide.

Also, once you get it going, let us know what the problem was. This may help others with a similar problem.

As stated above it could be many things.
Do you hear the slide motor if not it might be power related.
If you can hear the motor and the slide does nothing that indicates roll pins or gear
problem.

Make sure your batteries are charged up. Next, check for a reset in the electrical bay, should be marked. Next check for a blown fuse. Next check to see if electricity is going to motor when switch is pushed (disconnect the wire harness at the motor and check with a volt meter in the connector). Next if motor runs but slide does not move, check for a shear pin that has sheared. If electricity is present in connector when switch is pushed and motor does not run, you might need a new motor if everything else checks out ok.
