1998 Seabreeze 1290

I believe it has a Chevrolet P 30 Chassis. A mechanic working on the front end informs that the steering set up is unusual. He wants to replace the left balljoint which he says is dangerously worn, also the drag link and the left idler.
He identified the ball joint as K6129T which is available. The drag link as DS1065 and the idler arm as K6247T which he says are different to the existing ones, and that replacements are not available and have been discontinued.

Does anyone have any solution ? we have only had the MH a few weeks and on a trip of 3500 miles all seemed well.

Maybe time for "second" opinion at a different shop? Don't reveal 1st tech's analysis. Rook

Try posting in the Workhorse and Chevrolet Chassis Motor home Forum. If the mechanic says the steering setup is unusual you need a different mechanic. The P-30 chassis was made for years before Workhorse took it over from Chevrolet.

Find a new mechanic, I had all that stuff replaced when I had my P30 chassis with no issues, I got the parts from NAPA and freight liner did the install at the time.

1998 Chevrolet Chassis

Carlisle Lad,
I have a 1998 Sea Breeze 1330 Limited on the Chevrolet Chassis as well. It is actually a P37 chassis but most identify with the P30/32. The P30 series is for a forward control "van" chassis with the P37 (will be in the VIN #) is the designation for a motor home specific chassis. I don't know if then helps but since Chevrolet sold this design to Workhorse, it is indeed extinct. Most parts are still available but I needed to replace an oil cooler line and the local Chevrolet dealer said it was no longer available. I had a local race shop replace the flex portion where the leak was and reused the rigid ends. Not that this helps in your case but like others have said, get a secon opinion. I'd be willing to bet that the components are original and should be available somewhere to someone who trully knows these chassis. Good luck in your search.I did obtain a full set of Chevrolet technician repair manuals (4 volume set) and would be happy to copy and share anything that would help.

See breeze 1290 -1998

All replies are valued and I may take advantage of the Repair Manual info.
We have the Rig home now, only the Ball Joint was replaced. The mechanic recommended a Chevrolet Truck Dealer would be best in the future. The Motorhome handles fine, as in fact it did to me before on a 600 km trip to Mexico. It was all I-5 driving mind.
These Forums give a source of information to a dummy like me.
