2000 Tradewinds kitchen slide creeping

The slide in my 2000 Tradewinds creeps out while driving. Any ideas before I take it to the shop. I'm pretty handy, just need steered in the right direction.
Thanks
Dale

If your slide is like my living room slide, it should have a brake built into the motor. Hopefully your motor is not going bad (I had to replace mine due to other reasons).

If you do need to replace the slide moter, this is the best price I've found.
Northwest RV Supply: Slide-out Motors
Ask Dan about the prices.

No kidding! Before I met Dick, I paid over $500 for a slide out motor. Live and learn.

The next time you extend the slide, crawl under the coach and find the slide motor. If it is like mine, it will have a rubber "boot" on one end. This is the lock, on the motor that holds the slide in place. Feel the boot and squeeze in several places. If the lock has jumped out (like mine has done, several times), you will feel a "lever that you can move", inside the boot. Just move it as far as you can, by squeezing. Then check the slide for creeping, after your next trip. As I said, this has worked for me several times. For some reason, the lock, inside the boot, will "trip" once and awhile. Hope this helps.

You might want to try and move it manually with a wrench like you would if it failed completely. If it moves, the brake is off and the lever, under a boot or not, is in the wrong position. Usually pulling it towards you is....BRAKE DISENGAGED....and not what you want unless you're trying to move it manually.
All this is assuming you have something like a powergear electrical system and not a electo/hyd. Those I'm not that familiar with.

Haven't had a chance to look at it because I don't keep it at home.
Thanks for the information though. When I get to work on it I will check that out.
