2003 Ford F53 6.8 V10 Mass Air Flow Sensor

My 2004 Sea Breeze is on a 2003 F53 chassis with 44K miles. I had an intermittent code that indicated the mass air flow sensor may be dirty or faulty. Ordered one online, but it is not the same configuration as the one on the engine. The one that shows on all the online pictures fits in the air duct from the air cleaner. the one on the engine is in a metal housing just above the center of the engine, with a 3 pin connector. The one I ordered has 6 pins. I guess I will check with the Ford dealer, unless anyone has more info.

My 1999 F53 and 2001 F53, the MAF sensor was in the air filter assembly under the hood.. Its a little pain to get to it, but I spray cleaned mine and re-installed it along with a new air filter.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

2003 Ford F53 6.8 V10 Mass Air Flow Sensor

Thanks everyone! I took the air cleaner housing apart and found it. I had earlier searched for it up front, but the wire harness was so completely hidden in the back of the housing I didn't find it. I had a can of MAF cleaner, but since I found the sensor and had a new one in hand, I replaced it.

Remember now that cleaning it should be part of your regular maintainace. I clean mine on all my vehicles when I change air filter. Don’t touch it, or remove it. Just spray it, and let it dry. Good to go.
