I may buy a 2004 National Dophin 6355 Chev. chasis w/ 30k miles. This will be my second MH, prviously had a Georgie Boy. Can you share any concerns about this model that I should look for while checking it out? Thanks

Ray, welcome to iRV2.

My primary concern would be that the manufacturer is out of business. You will be able to get chassis parts, and you will be able to get parts for appliances, but special parts made by National may be hard to find.

The other concern is the W22 Workhorse chassis (Chevrolet sold their chassis business to Workhorse in 1998 or 1999) has a brake recall pending. The phenolic pistons in the calipers absorb moisture from the brake fluid and swell causing the brakes to bind. The prevention is to flush the brake fluid periodically. Brake calipers will be replaced under warranty as soon as parts are available (fall 2010?). You can read all about the brake problems if you go back to the main forum page and scroll down to the Workhorse Chassis Owners Forum.

You may want to ask other Dolphin owners in the National RV Forum on this site. I'll send you an electronic form that will enable you to move this inquiry to that forum, if you choose to.
