Unfortunately National RV made the shower skylight a different size than normal fans which need a 14 x 14 opening. After removing the fiberglass shrouds, top and bottom, I carefully cleand the roof to get all old sealing material and dirt off. Then I used the old mouldings to get the right outline for the new cover plates. I made them out of 1/4" Plexiglass but would have preferred to use Lexan which handles UV rays better. Anyway, once the new cover plates were made I cut out 14 x 14 holes for the Fantastic fan to sit in. Then I used self-leveling sealant between the fiberglass roof and the plexiglass cover piece.
Of course the Plexiglass was clear and I didn't want sunlight pouring into the shower on each edge of the Fantastic Fan so I bought some paint that was supposed to work on Plastic. I gave each side of the fabricated covers multiple layers of paint that matched the ceiling in the shower. That worked real well. The light that comes through is now very muted and is more like a night-light.
Since I had to run wiring over to the new fan, I also installed a new light on the ceiling. The wiring for both of them was pretty simple on my coach. Not sure how it would be for others. I suppose it depends upon where you could pick up hot 12 volts.
I don't have a URL with the pictures so don't know how to attach them to this message. If you want to see the pictures send me a direct E-mail at
