2005 Dolphin LX 6376 replacing Norcold with RR
Hi, just getting into RVing-have owned my 37' 2005 Dolphin LX with 3 slides for about 100 days (bought from La Mesa RV in West Palm Beach, Fl). They have had it for 80 of those days trying to make the Norcold 1200 work. They have given up and I have given up on them! After reading the posts about fires and other problems, I am ready to put in a residential refrigerator. Has anyone out there put one in a 2005 Dolphin LX 6376 with 3 slides. My major concern is that my furnace is located below the refrigerator. Can I lower the furnace closer to the floor to make room for the refrigerator? What model refrigerator will fit in a 2005 Dolphin LX 6376? So far this has not been what we were planning for our summer! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Your furnace should be sitting on the floor as factory installed.

Hi Richard, and thanks for the reply. My furnace, however, is sitting on on about 3" 1x1s which means i only have room for a 65-66" tall refrigerator. I do have another problem though, I only have 27" of clearance in front of existing 1200 so a single door refer is out of the question maybe Amish unit is my only answer.

There was a thread on here I saw once..pictures and all..I wish I knew where it is for you...I would check dimensions of the door opening to make sure I could get the new fridge in the door..just sayin'!
Happy Trails,,when you get going!

Our Dolphin has the same arrangement, furnace under the refrig. I scouted around and didn’t find a suitable replacement. Our Norcold 1200 works great, I would suggest finding a good independent repair shop.

I know that the cost factor is in place as well, but, if you would like to keep the rv style of fridge in the rv, there is a ra salvage place in Elkhart, In. that had 4 "New" fridges(Norcold) for about a fraction of the orig price! The Name of this place is called...
Factory RV Salvage
1611 West Bristol St.
Elkhart, IN. 46514
Factory RV Surplus
(574) 262-3327
Hope this is of some help to you

Our nocold has never been real good but it did work till now. Right now we are pondering rr amish unit or new no cold(last option). Going to town today will check all box stores for suitable replacement. We have the same space problems and the furnace is under it also. If you use the google thing on this site for norcold replacement it will show all the other threads on this problem.

So far I am having no problems with my RV fridge.. Two or three suggestions, Find someone who can fix the unit that you have, Do a search on the class A forum for Amish fridge.. Check You Tube, I saw where a guy posted doing the Amish replacement, step by step.. I believe I could do it after seeing his pictures
good luck

Thank you I looked at all that and I can do any repair required in house. Just not convinced I want the same problem again. Seems the reviews on the amish unit are 50-50. The norcold rebuilt unit is around 725$ (for my 1200 model) but the service life is short and there seems there has been a lot of fires. The amish unit is any where from 975-1150$ plus freight. We looked at a small rr that would fit for 375$ and will run on the inverter when not on shore power or gen.

A big thanks to everyone and we will explore all the options suggested. It is good to know we are not alone in our frustration. We were somewhat aware of the possibility of refrigerator problems and voiced our concern before we bought the RV but was told by La Mesa that "every issue that was not aesthetic would be completely taken care of." Of course that was before they got the money! We are new so we don't know if the service department is inept or there was no real effort. Either way, we have owned the coach since last May and it has been in their service department 80 of those days! We are happy with the Dolphin itself and just want to get on the road and not have to throw out 100s of dollars of food as we did on our one 8 day "shakedown" trip. We think we will love this lifestyle as soon as everything is working. Thanks again for the suggestions and we will post when we get a solution.

I have stated before, just my opinion.. Rv dealers donnt need mechanics in the winter, then in spring they have to hire anyone who can run a screwdriver.. Its absolutely stupid that the selling dealer cannt/won't correct the problem. Thats why I found a private owner shop for anything that I cannt do. Look around, ask around, you will find someone.
Buy the cheep fridge then go have some fun.

lucky I think
Went fishing around on u tube. After watching a few(google Norcold) I reset my circuit board checked for power and propane set her on propane and voila it kept running and is at 38 degrees this morning switched to a/c and it still works imagine that. I guess I will push it back in the hole and save up for when it dies all the way.

Since it has been in their shop for 80 days and they can't seem to get it fixed I would ask if their facility is Norcold certified for repair. If not then they should get a Certified Tech to come in and do the work. It could be a board or it could be the cooling unit. I had the cooling unit replaced on my 1200 series last Feb in Las Vegas by a Certified Tech, cost $1200.00. Also from what I've seen the Norcold 1200 series haven't been a fire hazard. You might also check the Lemon Laws in Florida just to use as leverage to get them off their duffs.

Jim, Hope you get this resolved. If the fridge is working on A/C and not DC it is not the cooling unit. My guess is low DC voltage or a faulty Control Unit. I have a copy of the Owners Manual, the Service Manual & the Parts Manual. If you need them let me know. Hopefully I will see you in the next day or two.
