Howdy all,

I just recently purchased a new 2006 40C Tradewind. It sat on the dealer lot for 4-1/2 years and only had 1400 miles on it. Its our first RV of any kind and I have alot to learn. On my last trip to the lake I couldnt get the entry door awning to roll in. I would just spin and click but never roll up. I eventually took the awning off so I could drive haRVey home(wife named him). Later I took the drive assembly apart expecting to find some type of clutch assembly but none was there. When I hooked 12DC to the motor it appeared to be working fine. I assume now that the spring loaded assist helps the awning roll out and the dc motor rolls it in. I also tried to roll out the big awning and now it also wont roll out, it will still try to close but when I throw the switch in the open position nothing happens. Now I am really confused................. Is there a open circuit fuse somewhere or am I on the wrong track? I sure hate to spend $135 an hour for dealer help. The door awning is a Dometic F45i Oasis. Any help is appreciated.

I found the master awning control under the frame rail in the back storage area, it has a wind disable or enable switch on it. I can open and close the main awning from there, but there doesnt appear to be a seperate control for the entry door awning. Then I tried to open the main awning from the control panel just inside the entry door. Again the main awning wont open but will try to close.........So now my assumption is the issue is somewhere in the control panel switches. Man troubleshooting is fun. LOL More when I find it.

If I understand your post correctly you are the first owner of this RV. I can't help you with the awning circuit but if I were you I wold go back to the dealer & see if they will look at it & repair as part of the sale. They should have given you a walk thru & showed you how to operate everything including the awning. If they neglected to show you how to operate the awning, they may have been trying to hide the defect. IMHO even the nicest dealer can be scrupulous when comes down to selling some thing not fully operating properly.
