2006/7 Surf Side Performance
New to Rv'ing and just completed my first longer trip with fair elevation changes, 700 ft to 6500 feet. I am curious how my performance was based on other people's experience.
2007 29A Surf Side V10 with a 1985 CJ7 towed (2300 lbs). At 50 mph I run 2000 rpms, at 65 mph I run 2500 rpms and at 70 mph I run 2800 rpms. Does that sound reasonable?
When driving up grades at 65mph, if I try to maintain something close to a steady speed it seems the RV is geared to jump from 2500 rpms to 3500 rpms. Does that sound like what others see?
On steep grades it seem the engine will drop to 3000 rpms, even if gas is all the way to the floor, I assume that is to keep me from doing something I should not do?
I tend not to use the cruise control except on flat runs.
Finally and just an aside, my parking brake light will blink on and off a few times over a day of driving. Any idea what that could means? The parking brake is not engaged.
