I am considering buying a 2006 Tropical T351, it has 12,000 miles and has a Cat 300. It appears to be in above average condition. Is there any known issues I should check out or just been warned of? Are the slides hydraulic or electric? Does it have double pane windows? Is the 300 Cat and Freightliner chasis a good combination? I have read about suspension upgrades that help out....any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

The link below may help with some of your questions. National RV made very good coaches.

Since I have an older Tradewinds, I can't speak for the slides, mine are electric. The Cat 300HP/Freightliner chassis is a good combination. Rides good (you won't need any suspension mods), gets good MPG (9 to 11) and adequate power. National made a good coach.

I have 2007. Like it. Freightliner smooth riding. 3 slides and they work fine. I had to have my bedroom slide adjusted since one side was lower than the other. It was done in less than a day. I moved from a 2001 Dolphin to 2007 Tropi Cal. No major issues. I have had a few issues that were addressed. Microwave died but I replaced it. Control board that splits incoming current between house and coach batteries did not work and I had it replaced. No big deal for either. Coach is well made. Dealer provided as part of package a 4 year extended service contract. Perhaps you can negotiate for that. I needed no chassis upgrades. handles hills fine.

I agree with this. We had one and really liked it. Slides are electric. Quality was high. The only downside is that National RV is out of business. But the Cat engine was great and we averaged about 10 mpg. Nice coach!

I just wanted to thank all of you for your info. I have taken it all in and feel I will continue negotiating till I get the best deal.

You should enjoy this unit. They are a lot of bang for the $ due to them being out of business. Most parts are made by some one else, so no problem there. Good luck on the purchase.

Mike If you haven`t made your purchase yet make sure that it really has a 300 Cat and not a 300 Cummins,Some of the 35 footers were built on the lighter chassis and used the 5.9 Cummins, big difference in power. Bill
