2007 National Dolphin 5355... a safe buy?

My wife & I are considering purchasing a 2007 National Dolphin for our first motorhome. We will retire in a few months, and plan on traveling for about a year... and maybe more. We recently came across a 2007 Dolphin, well maintained, 28k miles, and fairly priced according to NADA. It seems to us 'newbies' that the vehicle is well constructed and would serve two people well for full-timing.

Naturally, we have concerns about National RV going bankrupt. We would be interested in members opinions about the resale value, parts, maintainability of a National RV vehicle. Any comments that anyone would care to share?

Thank You.
Jim

We dearly love our 05 5342 Dolphin. I paid a "moble" RV tech to examine our RV while on the lot an give me a play-by-play & step-by-step walk-through of all of the systems. He could find nothing noteworthy so I was confident about buying the rig. A by-product is that I now can contact the tech anytime I need something done on the MH that I don't want to or cannot do.

You will not find a better coach for your dollar. Parts are not a problem, replacement body parts are now made by Ortega Mfg. Inc. 99% of the motorhome parts were supplied by many vendors that are used by other RV manufactures and are not a problem to purchase. The chassis is Ford or Workhorse.

As you can see below my signature, I also own a Dolphin and have about 20K miles on it. As stated by Richard S, if needed, replacements are readily available. And most if not all of the appliances or equipment onboard are manufactured by companies still in business. We love our Dolphin and can't wait for DW to retire so we can really enjoy driving it and exploring our beatiful country.

We love our Dolphin! We've spent a lot of time updating the whole coach for our tastes, but never a repair. It's doubtful we will ever upgrade to a newer coach, but if we did, it would definately be another National!

Much thanks to all who replied. My wife & I bought the 2007 Dolphin yesterday... And feel really great about it. This forum's comments from experienced owners made the difference. Now we just got to finish up 'working', and git going!

I hope you enjoy your Dolphin as much as we do. Gone 6,000 miles and not one regret in this purchase 18 months ago,

My wife and I have been full time in our Dolphin since we took delivery in Jan. 2003. We do Summers in Western Washington and Winters in SW Arizona. We love it.
