On our recent local trip, the pocket door located between the kitchen area and the bathrron area decided to come loose from the ceiling. After removing the deco wood trim from the track and further inspection showed that almost all the screws came out. The question then is how to put the track back up with bigger screws and ensure to get them into a wood support. The dealer wants 10 hours to fix it. Says they have to remove the wall. At $100 an hour, I will just put it back in the pocket and forget it. I thought about removing the large mirror that is on the wall and cut a small opening large enough to get my hand and drill in to secure the screws and then replace the mirror over the opening. Anyone else encountered this type of problem? What a great place this is. Thanks. Jim

I had the same thing happen on my 2001 dolphin about a year ago. Left the door in close position while traveling (not do again). I removed the trim cover on one side, drilled new holes in the metal track (3), about 1 inch from old holes and rescrewed into the ceiling as the others where done before. I did use a larger diameter screen with less lenth than the ones before. Good luck to you.

In a lot of cases the screws were over torqued and stripped out at the factory.
I would reattach the rali with new holes and screws. If you want you can reinstall the old screws at the stripped out location with some sealent to fill the holes.

Here are step by step instructions on how to reuse the old holes and screws and have a good repair.
HomeEnvy - Repairing a stripped screw hole
I'd drill out the holes and glue in Hard Wood dowles with yellow wood glue. Then drill a correst size pilot hole and reinstall the original screws.

Or you could install Nut Rivits and use machine screws.

Another trick is to simply push either a wood tooth pick or wooden match stick with glue into the hole, then run the screw back throuh the same hole. The nice thing about doing it this way is that if not all of the screw holes are stripped, you can use this fix by placing the tooth pick or match stick through the metal channel screw hole rather than taking the entire channel strip down.

Thanks for the quick response. Did any of the screws come out of the rail that was inside the pocket. I believe that some of mine may have come out a little and the question would be how to screw them back in as the opening is pretty small. Need a long skinny arm. Suggestions? Jim

I would try cutting a support that would fit into the track and slide it into the pocket to support the inside end of the track .It would have to be thin to not hold the door out too much.Maybe an angle iron properly placed so the door could slide by.A tab on the top and bottom parallel with the track would keep it in line.

I wanted to follow up on my original post regarding the pocket door. Dealership quoted almost $500.00 to fix the door stating the wall would have to be removed. I decided to fix it myself. I have completed the project yesterday for a cost of $7.17. I removed the door from the track that had come loose from the ceiling. I disposed of the railing and the piece of particle board that was attached to the rail to support the wood trim. I attached a piece of 3/4 x 1 1/2 to the ceiling. I attached to small wheels with a base of 1" wide to the bottom of the door and inserted the door back into the pocket. I attached the two trim pieces to the piece on the ceiling and it is like new. Took me about 30 minutes and $7.00 for materials. Thanks to everyone for their inputs. Where there is a will there is a way. Happy motoring.
