97 Dolphin cap question?

I have had a problem with mice getting in and in trying to find the access hole I found a 16" by 6" hole by the aft cap at the bottom. It is next to the trailer hitch, is this spot normally blocked off. I put a screen on and sealed all around. Hope the mice stay out.

Hi I should have said this better, Is the hole bottom of the MH usually completely sealed. I was wondering if they took off part of the bottom when they put the custom hitch on.

Some of the little things that bug us.

I have a 1997 36' Dolphin got it new in 1997.
I remember getting under the back when I installed a back up beeper and at that time their was a sheet of fiberglass covering the opening, but I think it was put their to keep the water out that would spray up into the area if and when you were driving in the rain.
I never put it back.

I have a question for you, do you have a tandem wheel in the back and if so it has it's own break system try to check the master cylinder to make sure it has plenty of break fluid.
I for got about it and it cost me around $2,300.00 to have it repaired.
I don't know how long you have had your M.H.!!
Just a thought.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the tip on the tag brakes, when I got the RV the last owner had the brakes freeze on him. I will keep track of the brake levels. I think I will seal the bottom at the cap area , I was on a dusty road one day and the RV filled up with dust .
