ABS Pump

Question: I have a 2005 National 32' Sea Breeze 18500 on it. When I put the ignition switch to the point where the indicator lights are activated around the speedometer, etc, , I hear a "whirring" sound coming from the ABS pump. Then when I start it...it sounds great...no problem...no noise. Any ideas on what is going on? Or, is that normal?

It's probably nothing to do with ABS as I don't know of any pump on ABS. What it most likely is the vacuum pump that supplies vacuum to run the heater and AC controls. Just a guess. Jim

I too have the Ford Chasis with hydraulic boost brakes. The pump makes perfect sense, however; with the motor running, moving or parked, as I apply more than mild pressure to the brake pedal, I get a "wooshing" sound, almost like a vaccum leak. Is this normal, or actually a leak? Initially I thought it was normal, but after driving a few longer trips, it's just too annoying to be completely normal, although everything appears to work fine otherwise. Any advice greatly appreciated.
