I have been reading about some problems with shear pins and other issues with the slide outs. I am wondering how I would gain access to the slide mechanism to lubricate or work on my bedroom slide. I can see some of the rails under the bed if I peak in a 2 inch opening under the bed when the slide is closed. I have checked in both storage areas under the bed and can't find any access panel or opening to the equipment. I think I must be overlooking something but don't know what. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated. Thanks, Don. I am assuming it is a Power Gear system because I have Power Gear jacks.

Put the bedroom slide all the way out, lift the bed up. You may need to remove a thin board of wood. Now you should be able to see all, you can also open the drawers under the bed for more room.

Thanks for the reply Richard. I think we have a different set up, I don't have any drawers under my bed. I can lift up the bed and plywood that the mattress is resting on and I have a large carpeted storage area under the mattress. I have tried to lift up the carpeted floor of the storage area but thee is no way that I am aware of to do this. I tried to do a little prying but it seems as though the whole bed framework is on top of this carpeted floor which does allow me to do any lifting of this floor. I also have another storage area at the head of the bed that is partitioned off from the main storage area but it is thesame way. It just seems strange and makes me wonder how someone would gain access if the slide is stuck in the closed position because I can not even lift the bed with the slide retracted. Like I mentioned in my previous post I am probably missing something but don't know what. I also checked my outside bins to see if there is an access panel from outside, which seems to me would make more sense but could not find anything.

Someone will come along that has the same set up as yours.

Don,

That is odd. If your bed slides out with the slide it should be under the plywood your mattress rests on. If you can see the rails it slides on then the motor should be between the rails. Curorsity is killing me, let us know where it is once you find it.

I would bet that there are scews hiding in the carpeted area under the bed that have to be remove to get that panel up.

Thank you for your replies SgtJoe and Speed Racer and I do agree with both of you. It has to be accessable from under the mattress, I will have to get out my magnifying glass and check closer for those screws. I tried running my hand across the entire area and did not feel or see anything but I will do it again until I find something. Thanks to all for your input and when I find something I will post it.

Don,
Just had a flash back when I had a 01 surfside.
the board under under the bed had a nylon finger strap at the foot of the bed to lift it up.To lift it up more than a couple of inches the brackets for the gas struts on each side would need to be removed to lift the carpeted board . If I remember it was heavy. I never removed mine because the slide worked great.
Good Luck

Thanks Richard, I willl check it out but not today, due to heavy rain. I have to partially remove my cover to open the slide but it will be on my list of things to look for, Don. If there are any more flashbacks please send them my way.

Thanks Bill for the great picture, it will help me a lot if I do have slide problems in the future. I still have to locate the screws or lift tabs to gain access to the mechanism area and will be working on that again sometime next week.

Can also "annoint" pictures with paint.net. Free download. Whoop--did I just go off-topic?

I finally got access to my bedroom slide motor. I was not able to find any way to lift the plywood, I could not find any screws or handle to lift the plywood. I installed a small handle with two wood screws and I was able to get access. I am guessing a possible oversight when new and nothing was installed to lift the access panel. Thanks for all your replies and pictures, they were very helpful.
