I looked at those bulbs Keith.
Doing it my way works out to about ten bucks a fixture.

I like the price for sure. Did you reinstall the diffuser? How did you do the connections? Did you just connect the five strips to each other and then to the power that used to connect to the ballast?

I twisted all five wires of each color together and used a crimp connector. The existing wire tail on the switch has plenty of length to allow connecting everything to the the plug in tail for the fixture.
The snap together connectors have no adhesive on them so I cut some small squares of double sided adhesive to stick them to the fixture. When I installed the first one it seemed as though the connectors were hanging slightly and I didn't want them to pull on the light strip adhesive. So far everything is great!

Sorry my first response was incomplete! Yes I have reinstalled the diffusers. I took it off to show the light strips in the photos. I can take another photo with it installed if you are curious as to how it looks lit up..

Thanks. I appreciate the info. I have a couple of lights to do to finish out the job. I will try this. No need for diffuser pic. I was just seeing if you put them back on. Thanks again.

I've replaced all the incandescents in my Dolphin with LED's, but I left the original fluorescents in as they only draw 9W per bulb and we like the light they give off. That's considerably more than an LED but about half of an 1141 incandescent bulb. We can always use just the LED lights when boondocking if we need to.

I replaced every inside bulb, fluorescents included, in my Tropical with LEDs. Kept the old fixtures. Zero labor. Big difference.

I recently replaced fluorescent tubes and ballasts 12v DC with M4 LED bulbs. Check out RVGeeks YouTube video for all the details. Great product. Minor re-wiring but basic really. This was done on a 2003 Islander.

My only caution about waiting until the ballasts fail is that one of mine failed and scorched everything including a spot on the diffuser. That was what pushed me to convert them all at the same time...

I used this strip and bought several led replacements from Joe. Service was great and products work well.

I took the electronic ballasts out and direct connected led strips in each light. Cost about $20 and my time.
