We have a 2001 Tradewinds LTC 3970 with an Atwood water heater. Inadvertently I ran the hot water tank dry frying the electrical element. I have found a replacement element but I have been unable to loosen the installed element. I have tried hitting the extension bar of the wrench but I've had no success getting the element to loosen. Other than removing the unit completely from the coach has anybody found a way to loosen that electrical element?

Have you tried using some liquid wrench or equivalent with a breaker bar?
Also using a socket the size of nut on element.

There is no room for a breaker bar longer than 6 inches underneath the shelf in an LTC. liquid wrench is my next try.

Not good news here, I'm afraid. What you've got there may be dissimilar metal corrosion caused by electrolysis. If that in fact is what it is....then it will be very difficult to break loose. Watch out for breaking, splitting or cracking something. Rook
