My backup camera (Voyager AOS-78) quit working properly today. The monitor is getting power and I get sound by no image. I've disconnected and reconnected the two plugs in the back. I know that this model has been discontinued. Has anyone else had problems with their camera. If so, what did you have to do to fix it.

About a month ago it happen to me after the MH was setting awhile. Monitor worked but no Pix. But I lucked out. I just fooled with the front switches a littel and it came up. Still works.

Since new, my monitor has had a bad connection right at the back of the monitor. Just wiggling the cable always brought it back to life. The monitor, same model as yours, finally failed last Nov. It failed with a bright solid horizontal line displayed. Sound was ok but vertical amp must have gone out. Got same display with or without camera input connected so I ruled out the camera. Replaced my monitor about 3 months ago. The replacement was AOS 783 for a similar but also discontinued model but with 3 camera inputs. Cost was about $300. Camera still ok .
I'd have to look for my receipt for where I got it on line. I started my search with voyager and model #.

Thanks Marty. I figured it's about time for it to go. I'll do some research on the web.

I found a replacement monitor at Leisure Time RV about a year ago. It's a VOM 78. Price including shipping was $176.69. It is slightly larger than the orignal equipment, but the judicious use of the heal of my hand managed to push it into the hole in the dash.

Thanks Mike. I went to RVCams website and the VOS 78 is the replacement system. It uses the VOM 78 monitor as Bob stated he used to replace his bad monitor. I going to take the motorhome to Camping World and they will do a diagnostic for $119.00. It's pricey, but will save me a lot of time. They can isolated the problem as being the monitor, camera or cable. When I find the problem I'll buy the parts from RVCams and fix it myself. My question to Bob is, can you turn on the system without being in reverse so I can periodically monitor my toad when traveling down the highway and do both plugins on the back work without any modifications?

Well the mice seem to always chew through the camera cable (lol). I took my camera out of the back and plugged it in directly to the back of my monitor to eliminate the cable. Is there anything else that is displayed on the monitor?

Nothing on the screen. It is just blank. It doesn't light up no matter which input I plug the camera wire into. Again, I have sound but no image.

That was the exact problem I had with my Sony camera and monitor. Had sound but no picture. I was lucky because I could display side camera and other images so I knew my monitor was good. The question was if it was the cable or the camera. I finally took the camera out and plugged it directly into the monitor and it still didn't work so the camera was bad.

One thing you could do is send both the monitor and camera to RV Cams since one of the two has to go there anyhow and have them check it out.

I use mine all the time to make sure the toad is still there. One of the plugins only works for viewing, the other goes on when you backup. Since I only have one camera, I use the one that is also activated when I shift to reverse.

Fred, you may want to take a look at Costco for replacement backup system.

Costco - Backup (1) Camera System with 7" LCD Screen By Rear View Safety.

They will also bench test your monitor for free if you send it to them. I have seen Tim do this quite often when I drop in and visit with him. When it comes to monitor systems you will be hard pressed to find anyone better than Tim.

I've known Tim (Owner of RV cams) for a L O N G time. Just a down home good fella. The reason Tim started RV Cams was because he had a problem with HIS camera in his rig. Couldn't get the answers he needed, soooooooo he dug and fixed it himself. Then started out of his house doing systems. It kinda grew........ But he still has the same "Vintage" rig he started with.
