I had a similar problem with our monitor, it was an intermittent problem. Before I retired, I worked in the electronics industry and the fault on the monitor, to me, appeared to be caused by aging (or leaking) electrolytic capacitors. This was a common problem in all kinds of electronic products back then. I replaced about 10 of them in the area of the monitor where the camera signal enters. It has worked ok for the past 18 months. I just purchased a LCD monitor/camera kit to replace the old ones as I know other problems will occur as more capacitors go bad.
