Went into the bathroom in my 2002 Dolphin 6356 to make a deposit, flipped on the fan as a coutesy to the DW, and BAMCRACKETYGRINDFLIPFLIPCRACKLEBZZZzzzzz.... the fan blades explode in a spectacular display of fan-fail glory.

Witness the aftermath:

Soooo. Can I buy a replacement fan blade, or am I on the hook for a whole new unit?

Next time , don't be so courteous ( LOL ).Too bad it wasn't a fantastic fan. They would replace it for free.

You can buy a replacement blade. Take what remains of the old blade mount with you to the parts store so you can get a fan with the proper style hole to match the type of shaft you have - they don't all use the same design/size.

I replaced mine a few weeks ago after I tried to vacuum the screen while the fan was running. Woke me right up.

I figured that was the answer. Now I just gotta figure out how to get to it. Thanks!

Hmmm... Free = good. Maybe I should use this as an opportunity to make a little upgrade.

Many/most have a few screws either holding the trim inside or you can pop the trim piece off and there will be a few screws holding the fan box to the ceiling. Remove them and the fan assy drops in your hands.. or on your head.

The blades as well as the outside covers get sun rotted. I had one of the outside covers explode on me when a wind gust came up.. I had the cover partially open.. didn't hear it.. but found pieces all over the driveway. Fortunately, it wasn't raining...

While you've got it apart, might consider replacing the whole thing with one of these.

I replaced the complete fan with a 12 volt muffin (computer) fan. I did this for several reasons. The new fan is quite for both actual wind noise and electrical noise. The original fan uses a standard brush motor and that make a lot of electrical noise in my ham radio receiver. I guess I could have put a capacitor on the old motor to solve the noise but I was too lazy.

I had this very thing happen to me also, an exploding fan blade. It took me a while to find the exact shaft and size. Try VentLine replacement blade - BVD0215-00, Google this and it will come up. This was an exact replacement for me. However, make sure you check the shaft type and size.
