See if this helps. Extra wires and fuse were added by me for my solar panel, other than that it is stock.

The proper connection configuration of 2-6 volt batteries to supply 12 volts is to connect the positive post of one battery to the negative post of the other battery. The two remaining post, a positive and negative, is connected to the positive and negative leads that feed the coach. Do not ever connect the two remaining posts together.

There is very little to do to hook up the batteries wrong. Two six volts should be hooked up in series to provide 12 volts. Positive from MH to positive of first battery. Negative of first battery to positive of second battery. Negative of second battery to chassis ground.

Batteries hookup looks good.
You didn't mention how long it takes to discharge the batteries or how long the solar panels have been on. A short would have to be high resistance to not blow a fuse. The Solar panel circuit would be the first thing I would check.
And remember, not all "electricians" understand the workings of an RV 12V system. I have heard of a few of them wiring things up wrong!

Also check your inverter, my door switch for the inverter was OFF, but the switch on the inverter was ON, trying to power the fridge and draining the batteries.

Jim...
I just replaced my batteries and also had to replace my conveter. I am not very handy and no nothing about electricity. These are complex systems but, if you need help, I can explain things to you in very non-technical terms.
If you want/ need my help; PM me.

Thanks to all for your help.!! It looks like i'm the duuffuss who hooked up the batteries wrong. trying to rush and not knowing what i was doing was my down fall. now i have to find the relay thats shorting out. My battery cut off switch won't work so i guess the relay for battery cutoff is shorted out. now i'll have to find it. This time i'll go slow and look before i leap. thanks again to you all. jim.
