Just left the factory and had the usual Great Service. Three days later, the bedroom slide on our 03 Trop will not go out. I can hear the solenoid click when I stand out side, but no movement on the slide. I connected the kitchen slide connector to the bed slide but still no joy.

Any suggestions????

Have you tried to assist it in going out by providing outward pressure against the bed? Ours will hang up after a period of time requiring lubricating the interior surfaces that rub against each other with a bar of soap. After you get it open. Cleaning and waxing the outside bottom of the slide compartment will help. Treating the gaskets with the proper conditioner, also. Breaking the shear pin is a common complaint, caused by too much load on the motor. A Tech paper on this is posted at the Power Gear website. And the slide can be manually pushed in if necessary, but the position of the key in the switch is important. I forget which way is correct. This happened to us, and we learn by experience.

I have an 05 Tropical, the shaft on the motor has broken...three times. The first two times the motor was replaced at @$270 ea. I recently went to a machine shop and had a couple of new shafts made at $40 ea. Changing the shafts is easy, remove the six screws on the front of the assembly. pull the broken shaft straight out, the gear is keyed and pulls off the shaft (don't lose the key) reverse the process to reassemble.

Bill in re reading this thread, I recall a similar bedroom slide issue I had-and solved on mine.

It took me 3 years to discover the cause. So I thought I would share this little gem here and maybe shortcut some others trouble shooting that may have same cause.

As I would extend my bedroom slide, often but not always, the slide would seem to "catch" on something on its way out. Not enough to stop the motion, but made me concerned of an expensive problem down the road,
I was never able to find the root cause of this effect after spending much time running the slide in and out incrementally.

Finally, the time came for the bedroom slide topper to be replaced as it had weathered badly in the Az. sun and heat. I did this replacement myself. It was then that I discovered the anti unrolling lever on the A&E slide topper end cap was improperly installed(not riveted straight). The way it was, it would sometimes kiss the support bracket and cause the top of the slide to momentarily bump as it rubbed past.

Since that minor repair, the slide has worked smoothly.

Sorry, I thought I had supplied the solution to my problem here on this Board.

What I found was the catch on one of the drawers under the bed had broken. This allowed the drawer enough slack to slide to far uner the bed and hit the wiring that actually operated the slide motor. It put sufficient pressure on the wire so that the connector used to join the wires would be pulled apart enough to cause the connection malfunction. All I have to do is lift the bed and press the connector together and everything was back to normal

I have since replaced the catch on the drawer.
