Brake Lights not working, but 3rd brake light does?

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem?

Noticed that my brake lights are not working, but the third brake light works. The turn signal lights do work and 4 ways work.

I have checked the brake fuse and relay and ok there. Checked both bulbs and ok there too.

Went underneath and checked the air brake switch, I used a jumper wire on the terminals and only the third brake works when jumping the wire. Also was getting a reading of around 17 volts at air brake switch, not sure if that is right?

The one thing is that I am not getting any voltage reading back at the bulb socket connector when the brake is applied.

Not sure what I am missing. I am getting power from the fuse to the air brake switch which is lighting up the third brake light, but why not the tail lights?

Thanks for any help.
Jeff

Make sure the 4 way flasher switch isn't on. If the flasher is bad, it won't flash but mess with the brake lights.

Thanks everyone for suggestions, but I have checked the wires, with nothing visibly wrong. I just changed the multi function switch and the brake lights still dont work. double checked the bulb and both filaments work. Very frustrating

Cant figure why I am getting power at brake switch under brake pedal, but no power to the rear? Maybe a break in wire from brake switch to the rear. With the million wires running everywhere, doubt I will find it.

Maybe just tap into 3rd brake light and put two new brake lights in back?

Any other possible suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Jeff, is the turn signal bulb common with the T/S and Break bulb. (same filament ?)
The turn signal switch also known as the 'multi-switch' controls the power to activate L/R break light filaments separately . Are the turn signal bulbs separate? Do the T/S bulbs also share the 4 way (amber ? ) Tell us about all your bulbs.
