Cat C7 dipstick fell off

Anyone have a good suggestion on how to remove a dipstick from C7 tube. It came off the cap and I assume it is in the tube. I tried fishing it out with wire but no go. I thought of removing tube but do not want oil mess. Next best is to have oil changed & have tube removed.

I'm not familiar with the cat engine but I doubt the tube enters the block below the oil level. You should be able to remove it without making a big mess.

To get the dipstick out try finding a piece of rubber or plastic tube that will fit inside the tube. If you can push it down it might fit over the dipstick and you can pull it back.

Cat c7 dipstick fell off

might try one of the fishing plug retrivers. twisted piece of heavy wire that slides down your fishing line to get a underwater plug loose. that thing might grab the dipstick.

good luck

Dip stick tube enters the block , WAY above oil level , but you'll probably destroy the tube trying to remove it ( if it will come out at all without breaking a section off in the block )
Pulling the dipstick out the bottom would require removing the oil pan; BUT may be the only safe way to go , because if the tube is broken trying to remove it , the pan has to come of to remove the broken section from the block.

Mike

if he is lucky enough to have a standard cat engine he would probally find the oil tube is threaded in the block, with a threaded fitting. The c7 is a early 3126 with more electronics and other updates. The tube enters above the oil level as you have already guessed correctly.
( pretty good )
