I have a 2004 Sea Breeze MH and everything that runs off of 12 volts appear to be working okay except one ceiling light.I checked the light fixture and it isn't getting the 12 volts, went to the switch just inside the door and the switch isn't getting the voltage either. No circuit breakers are tripped and have no idea where I might find a fuse controlling that light. Where do I look next for the problem? Any helpful hints will be appreciated.

Thank You

Rich

I had the same problem with a cabin light behind the cockpit of my class A.
I solved it by removing the light fixture from the ceiling and finding an unused 12v connector in the ceiling. Apparently, they didn't wire it correctly at the factory.

On my 04 See Breeze the ceilling light controlled at the door switch is also controlled by a switch on the monitor panel..Not like a 3 way switch, one has to be ON before the other works.. MH is a few blocks away or I would go see which switch is "the boss"..

I don't remember that ever happening before, but I will sure look into it during the day tomorrow. Thanks for the information.

Rich, just a thought but if that light is a tube light, it could be a bad ballast. Drop the light and see if there is power in the wires feeding to it.

It is a tube light, and I have checked the power, doest appear to be getting any to the light.

Did you pull the light out of the ceiling and checked the wires that are coming from the next light? Reason I ask is because this was how we found that it was the ballast on mine. I had no live wire until I could test the feed wires above the light.

Rich,

My NRV is older but, has the florescent lights and step light switch. In addition, it also has a rocker switch on the fixture itself. Someone turned it off there one time and the step switch didn't work. Took me awhile on that one

Unless your 12V system is protected by breakers (which I doubt) the 12V fuse panel should be located close to the converter/charger or inverter/charger if so equipped. It doesn't sound like it's a fuse though if the 1 light is the only thing not working.

When checking the switch for power, use a few alternate grounds for testing if possible as it could be a bad ground there (not likely, just being thorough). You of course want to check for power into the switch as well as out to make sure the switch isn't bad. You could have power at the switch and at the light too, but the ground up at the fixture could be bad. (happened to me once and had to install a new ground wire). Since there wasn't an alternate ground close enough for me to use, I used a 12v battery charger and connected directly to the wires after any switches....lit right up.

If your meter will reach the fixture and the front AC panel, you could use a ground there as an alternate to test. You'll probably have to get DW to hold one wire though

If you're 100% sure there is not power at the switch (and you checked for that fixture switch I mentioned earlier), then the problem is certainly between the switch and the fuse someplace. I don't know if this will help you, but it will keep you busy for an hour or so if you think I'm on the right track. Good luck and keep us posted.

John...

jlyon69 Thank you for the great information. It's on the cold side here now, so when it warms up a bit I will give it all a try.
